Picaroon’s posers

Today’s three toughest teasers from https://www.theguardian.com/crosswords/prize/29458

19d: Aussie native not feeling alright, not content (6)

The answer is NUMBAT, which is an australian animal I had never heard of before. That’s what made it difficult, but the clue itself is nevertheless pretty good: NUMB for ‘not feeling‘ and ‘at’ ‘is alright’ without its contents.

15d: Tired and emotional bride ate nuts (8)

Again, what made this hard is that I didn’t previously know the answer existed. But EBIRATED means the same as INEBRIATED. Typical. Meanwhile, the clue is a simple anagram of bride ate.

13ac: Dealing with entry in sports day, ready to broadcast later (11)

I thought this was a quite well constructed clue. It’s PRERECORDED: RE (dealing with) RECORD (entry) gives us RERECORD. Put that inside PE (sports) D (day) and there you go.

I CAME, I SAW, I SOLVED

When I’m not doing other things (saving the planet with emerging technologies etc…) I spend 100% of my time solving cryptic crosswords.

Do you want email from me every now and then?

I wouldn’t, if I were you. But it seems to be a Wordpress thing.
